Cadillac XLR will leave the market
GM will close its Cadillac XLR production, according to a information from the Bowling Green Daily News. Sharon Basel (GMcommunication manager) told the Bowling Green Daily News that fabrication of the sluggish-selling XLR coupe-cabriolet will stop this spring. The direct and immediate result of these actions will be 40 new unemployed workers.
Cadillac started the XLR in 2003 as a challenger for the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its brothers, but the jumpy roadster with the folding, by no means can deal with the luxury sports car market.
Will somebody miss the Cadillac XLR? I really doubt because, BMW 3-Series Coupe and Mercedes-Benz SL-Class are more suitable and competitive for this market segment.
