Michelin has created an annual challenge, Michelin Challenge Design, in order to promote and display, original design, work that normally have no chance to be display in an auto show.
The Michelin Challenge Design theme for 2009 was “America's Next Iconic Vehicle”. The participants set their imagination free and bring to the contest bold visions about future transportation vehicle.
Competition has three categories:
1.Full Size Vehicles – where the competitors must expose a fully functionally car;
2.Scale Models – where are expose the scale models of the car;
3.Drawings - the designers must draw a detailed car.
The most spectacular category every year remains the drawing. Here the designers have absolutely no limits and their imagination challenge the rule of physics. They say all cars that they drew can be build and run normal on the street despite the unearthly look of the design.
Here are some of the most interesting creation of the young designers and their fresh view about the “America's Next Iconic Vehicle”.
