The designed of this auxiliary brake are similar to the airbag concept. In case of extreme, the brake activates a pillow under the car and by the friction with the asphalt helps decreasing from fast speeds.
The front of the car is built with 80 mm higher to compensate the plunge effect on emergency braking. German engineers have developed an inflatable metal structure that can reduce space and increase protection in case of accident.
Structures are inflated by a system which generates a pressure of 10-20 bars. The space saved in this way can be used for other purposes, such as installation of new safety technologies. In case of a lateral impact, vehicle computer move the seats with 5 inches to the center of the car.
