Kia retailers are currently offering test drives of the brand-new Niro. It needs to continue the success of a classic. The Kia Niro PHEV family SUV was the first of Kia's electrified vehicles and a significant factor in the company's rise to the top of the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle market for the past three years. The latest version of Kia's best-selling Niro compact crossover utility vehicle (CUV) has been rethought from the wheels up to offer cutting-edge electric mobility and high-end passenger comfort.

Simultaneously, the brand-new Kia Niro crossover SUV has been outfitted with many helpful high-tech technologies that enhance safety, usability, and simplicity. Each Kia Niro model, which includes a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and a completely Kia Niro electric car, comes standard with most of these amenities.

The Plug-in Hybrid features Kia's extremely efficient Smartstream 1.6-liter GDI gasoline engine and a larger 11.1 kWh battery than the previous model's 8.9 kWh. The total output is 183 horsepower.

The new Kia Niro PHEV variant offers an enhanced EV setting that allows it to travel up to 65 kilometers (40 miles) on electric power alone, significantly decreasing pollution and increasing fuel efficiency. Additionally, Kia's 6-speed dual-clutch transmission is more effective than before. The new gearbox saves 2.3 kg of weight and increases fuel efficiency by 0.62% by doing away with reverse gear and utilizing the power of the electric motor instead of the internal combustion engine for hill starts and stops.

To further extend the PHEV model's range in cold weather, the Kia Niro Niro Plug-in Hybrid comes standard with a new 5.5 kWh high-voltage heater (PTC) from the Prestige trim level. It ensures the Niro's interior can be heated only by electricity, relieving strain on the car's gas-powered engine.

Customers who opt for the brand-new Kia Niro EV with a 64.8 kWh battery may look forward to a maximum electric range of 460 km. With 204 hp (150 kilowatts) and 255 Nm of torque, drivers cruise confidently and quickly across any terrain. In ideal conditions, it takes only 43 minutes to charge the Niro EV small SUV from 0 to 80% with a flash charger, and the process is simple and rapid.

Start saving money on the new Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid for as little as $43,600. The best fuel efficiency of 125 km/l and an electric range of up to 65 km are yours in this well-equipped Niro with 16-inch alloy wheels. Prices start at $47,700 more for the Prestige trim, which includes a higher level of luxury features such as a high-voltage cabin heater, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, Kia Connect, and Green Zone Drive mode ($46,300 ). Finally, an upgraded trim is available for $53,000. It comes with a motorized tailgate, power-adjustable front seats, leatherette upholstery, and a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, among other features. The fuel economy of the Upgrade trim is 111.1 km/l, and the electric range is 61 km.

The new Kia Niro EV pricing starts at $47,700. You're getting a fully functional electric vehicle with all the bells and whistles. The Prestige model, which costs $50,300, offers even more luxury. An AC inverter, battery charging preparation via the navigation, a 10.25-inch touchscreen featuring navigation, Kia Connect, and integrated digital instruments are all included. The top-of-the-line Upgrade model can be yours for an astonishing $53,000. In addition to the standard conveniences like a power tailgate, power-adjustable front seats, and faux leather upholstery, it also comes standard with a slew of advanced safety features like an active blind spot assistant, a warning for rear crossing traffic, a safe exit assistant, an extended highway assistant, and an extended emergency braking system. The trunk space of the Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid family SUV is 348 liters, whereas that of the Kia Niro EV small SUV is 475 liters.

The active air damper in the radiator grille is a brand-new, understated feature that is neatly integrated into the vehicle's exterior appearance. It closes automatically when engine cooling is unnecessary, allowing for a smoother airflow across the vehicle's front end. The Niro PHEV has an active air damper built into both radiator grilles, whereas the Niro EV has one built into the lower grille. The new Niro's aerodynamic C-pillar and active air damper help it achieve a good Cw value of 0.29.

The Kia Niro PHEV family SUV version has an innovative "Green Zone" driving mode, developed with fuel efficiency in mind (standard on the Prestige model). The Green Zone driving mode uses the car's GPS coordinates, an algorithm based on the driver's habits, or the driver's own input to activate emission-free electric driving in predetermined zones, such as those around schools, hospitals, or the driver's neighborhood.

To switch between gasoline and electric operation effectively, the Green Zone driving mode may also manage the remaining charge along a predetermined route by continuously monitoring and balancing the battery use following the remaining distance. The Kia Niro PHEV's electric vehicle capabilities are expanded with an integrated geofencing function for added convenience when driving in Europe's ultra-low emission zones.

Due to its vehicle-to-device (V2D) capability, the Kia Niro EV's two-way battery may serve as a portable 3 kW power supply for electronics and equipment like e-bikes or camping gear. The new Kia electric car can tow a trailer weighing up to 750 kilograms when equipped with brakes or 300 kilograms when not, making it a good choice for most RVs and trailers and making it ideal for longer outdoor excursions.
