With the facelifted version of the luxury limousine A8 in a plug-in hybrid version, the Audi A8 TFSI e comes below the limit of 50 grams CO2 / km and is, therefore, a low-emission car. Thus, the Audi A8 TFSI e is perfect for those who want luxury and want the opportunity to drive on clean electricity in urban areas but who do not yet have the chance to take the step into a pure electric car. At the same time, the Audi A8 TFSI e plug-in hybrid is now available for 131,000 euros.
Not all people have their driving needs covered by an electric car. The infrastructure in some parts of Europe does not cover sufficiently and does not match the rapidly growing population of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. However, many of these customers would still like to drive emission-free in urban areas without compromising the desire for mobility to consist of some of the finest in luxury limousines.
For these customers, the facelifted Audi A8 is a lovely choice that stands firm in the segment of luxury plug-in hybrids.
"The A8 is Audi's flagship, where innovative technologies are launched and where we can offer the highest level of luxury equipment. Now that the price starts at 131,000 euros, the A8 TFSI e will be available for a wider customer segment. However, it is still a customer segment that does not compromise, but with the facelifted A8 TFSI e, we believe that we can pull more customers from fossil cars to low-emission cars. We, therefore, have expectations of increasing sales of the A8 TFSI e considerably."
It is a 27% larger battery of now 14.4 kWh (net), which brings the A8 TFSI e down to 42 grams CO2 / km, and it also provides a more extended range of pure electricity. Therefore, most of the everyday rides can be done on pure electricity, and it only takes 2.5 hours to charge the battery again for the next trip.
The Audi A8 had the role of the brand's spearhead in the luxury limousine segment since 1994 when it was presented as the successor to the Audi V8. The Audi A8 is a symbol and pioneer of the brand's status and prestige. The fourth generation of the luxury limousine that Audi presented in 2017 was upgraded to a new performance, appearance, and equipment level. As the first mass-produced model, the A8 showcased the future design language at launch. The sharpened design combined with established technologies and excellent rear-seat comfort defines Audi's exceptional understanding of the segment. The limousine represents a unique combination of driving comfort and sporty driving characteristics, thus covering the entire spectrum of the driving experience.
Audi entirely agrees that plug-in hybrid is a transitional technology on the road to fully electric cars. Therefore, Audi announced last year that from 2026 it will only launch new fully electric models and that Audi will stop the production of fossil and plug-in hybrid cars by 2033 at the latest.
The 2022 Audi A8 TFSI e is, of course, luxuriously equipped with standard equipment such as adaptive air suspension, ambient lighting package, Audi phone box, Audi virtual cockpit, electrically adjustable front seats with memory, 4-zone comfort air conditioning, leather upholstery, MMI Navigation Plus with MMI touch, OLED taillights, parking climate function, progressive steering, power steering for the doors and much more.
