The new Porsche 911 Sport Classic is the second of four collector's items that Porsche is launching with its Heritage Design strategy. This new 911 Sport Classic exclusive edition will revive the style of the 1960s and early 1970s but is limited to just 1,250 units. Like its immediate predecessor, the 997-based 911 Sport Classic introduced in 2009, the look of this model is inspired by the original Porsche 911 (1964 – 1973) and the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972.
The new 911 Sport Classic exclusive edition is available for 317,000 euros. Its deliveries will start in July 2022.
The wide bodywork is usually reserved for the Porsche 911 Turbo has the fixed rear spoiler in the style of the legendary Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 ducktail. In addition, the double-vaulted roof underlines the distinctive character of the new Porsche 911 Sport Classic.
For the color of the new limited edition model, the designers have been inspired by the Fashion Gray paint of the first Porsche 356 and the first 911 Sport Classic of the 997 generation, launched in 2009.
As an alternative to the exclusive Sport Gray metallic finish, the new 911 Sport Classic is also available in Solid Black, Agate Gray metallic, Gentian Blue metallic, or in a custom color from the Paint to Sample option (from October 2022).
Double stripes painted on the bonnet, roof and rear spoiler in Light Sport Gray emphasize the car's sporty design. Inside, the iconic Pepita pattern is found on the door panels and center seats. At the same time, Classic Black/Cognac two-tone semi-aniline leather upholstery provides a stylish contrast to the exterior color.
The propulsion system is equally unique, and we are talking about a 3.7-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine that transmits its 550 hp (405 kW) to the road only through the rear wheels.
The new Porsche 911 Sport Classic is the most powerful 911 with a seven-speed manual gearbox. The gearbox has a 'toe-heel' function that compensates for the difference in engine revs when downshifting, with a quick, brief rev-rise before engaging the lowest gear. In addition, the standard sports exhaust system is specially adapted for an even more captivating sound experience.
Based on the Porsche 911 Turbo and Porsche 911 GTS models, the suspension features Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. Its adaptive dampers respond instantly to dynamic changes. The PASM is combined with the sports suspension, which lowers the ride height by 10 millimeters.
