Because SUVs are no longer utility vehicles, Audi has decided to offer such a model with a petrol V8 engine and performance similar to those of sports cars.
The new Audi RS Q8 has a 4-liter V8 engine with a power of 600 hp and a torque of 800 Nm. The two-turbocharged unit catapults this massive SUV from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.8 seconds, and from 0 to 200 km / h in 13.7 seconds. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h, but with the optional dynamic plus package can reach 305 km / h.
The RS Q8 also features the 48-volt mild-hybrid (MHEV) system, which can recover up to 12 kW in a lithium-ion battery.
Permanent all-wheel drive is offered as standard and we have an eight-speed automatic transmission. The pure mechanical center differential distributes the torque to the front and rear axles in the ratio 40:60. The dynamic plus package with which the Audi RS Q8 reaches 305 km / h, has chassis set for maximum sportiness, active electromechanical anti-roll stabilization system, sports quattro differential and RS ceramic braking system.
In standard equipment the car has 22-inch aluminum wheels, 10-spoke design, star-shaped and 295/40 tires, the big ones installed by Audi on a standard model. Optionally, 23-inch aluminum rims, Y-spoke rotor design and various finishes can be chosen. Behind the wheels is installed the RS braking system with discs of composite material, ventilated from the inside.
The new Audi RS Q8 will be available from the first part of next year and prices start from 127,000 euros.
