Ford has launched the new Puma ST Powershift, which features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, making it the most powerful version of the 1.0-liter Ford EcoBoost engine. With a maximum power of 170 HP and a maximum torque of 248 Nm, the Ford Puma ST Powershift offers driving experiences typical of Ford Performance models. The mild-hybrid system activates energy recovery faster than in other versions and allows a faster lithium-ion battery recharging. The propulsion system brings about a 10% increase in maximum power compared to the 155 HP version of the 1.0 EcoBoost engine.
The seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission allows gear changes via paddles on the steering wheel. The Ford Powershift transmission perfectly combines a dynamic driving experience with ease of everyday use. The running gear of the Ford Puma ST Powershift is the same as the Puma ST version, with a Twist-Beam rear axle that has a torsional stiffness of 2,000 Nm/deg, an increase of over 50% compared to a standard Puma.
The Ford Puma ST Powershift benefits from the same active exhaust valve technology found in the Ford Puma ST, offering a distinctive note when accelerating. Controlled by selectable driving modes, the active exhaust valve stays closed in Normal and Eco modes for everyday refinement but opens in Sport mode to intensify the sporty sound.
The 11.4:1 ratio steering system, almost 25% faster than other Puma versions, uses a typical ST combination of front knuckles and steering column. Improved braking performance is provided by 325mm front discs, 17% larger in diameter than Puma's standard specification.
The Puma ST Powershift offers comfort elements, generous interior space, and innovative, practical solutions, including the MegaBox. The acceleration from 0-100 km/h is achieved in 7.4 seconds, while the efficiency values are very good, with consumption of 6.3 l/100 km and emissions of 144 g/km CO2.
