Mercedes has unveiled the second generation of its best-selling GLC SUV. In the future, hybrid versions of this car will be the only option: a mild hybrid with a 48-volt system or a plug-in hybrid with a 12-mile range. The Mercedes-Benz GLC was an instant hit with consumers everywhere. Now that the next generation has been unveiled, fans can expect to see all the familiar features they love, numerous updated technical features, and a redesigned interior. The new C-Class shares the same type of sizeable central display as seen here.

What stands out most about the six presented models is that they all use hybrid propulsion, have four-cylinder engines, and are equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Three of them use what is called "mild hybrid" technology, which consists of a 48-volt electrical system and an ISG (Integrated-Start-Generator) that can add up to 23 hp to the vehicle's output and allow it to "sail" on electricity alone while on the road.

Each of the other three is a plug-in hybrid that runs on diesel or gasoline. All GLC SUVs have a range of at least 100 km, thanks to their 31.2-kilowatt-hour batteries. Because of this, most people can go their entire lives without ever having to start their car's internal combustion engine.

In-home charging is capable of 11 kW, and DC charging at 60 kW is available as an option when ordering the vehicle.

The electric motor in the Mercedes-Benz GLC plug-in hybrid produces about 130 hp and 440 Nm of torque. The maximum output of the Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 e 4MATIC model is 381 horsepower.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLC is loaded with technological advancements that make driving easier in various situations, including those involving a trailer. The option to purchase a vehicle with rear-wheel steering is particularly noteworthy. Digital Light projector headlights are also available, which can be used to create precise light images that include symbols.

The second generation of the Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV is equipped with multiple driving modes that determine when it is safer or more efficient to operate solely on electric power, such as when traversing rough terrain. Off-roading in complete silence while powered solely by electricity is an unusual and exciting experience.

A transparent bonnet is a specialized screen display for use in such cases. This means that the screen displays a virtual image of the ground underneath the vehicle near the front wheels, courtesy of the vehicle's cameras (which can also be seen in the picture). That makes it possible for the driver to go around hazards more securely than ever before. The screen also features a dedicated trailer menu. Specify the trailer's length, width, and height, as well as other details. When a trailer is attached, the navigation system automatically adjusts its path calculations accordingly.

Three models with a mild hybrid system are already available for pre-order, and sales of the charging hybrids, which can be charged with 11 kW or an optional 60 kW DC, will begin this fall.

The base price for a Mercedes-Benz GLC 200 4MATIC, a gasoline model with 204 hp and fuel consumption of 0.73 l/100 km, is 52,500 euros. Those interested in the GLC 300 4MATIC can upgrade to receive 258 hp at a starting price of 59,600 euros.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 220 d 4MATIC, with 197 hp and fuel consumption starting at 0.52 l/mi, is the first diesel version to hit the market. The lowest available price for this SUV is 54,111 euros.

They all share a long list of standard features, including fingerprint readers to personalize the MBUX entertainment system. The automatic high beam and parking aid systems are included as well. There are a plethora of possibilities. Digital Light headlights can project graphics onto the road and a steering system that uses a rear axle. In addition, there are a plethora of driver aids and novel features that make off-roading easier. @via  Mercedes-Benz.
