Mercedes-Benz has presented the new GLC SUV. The model range includes four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines combined with an electric motor. Three engine variants are plug-in hybrid systems with a system output of up to 280 kW (381 hp) and a torque of 750 Nm.

Thanks to the 31.2 kWh battery, all plug-in hybrids have an electric range of more than 100 kilometers, according to WLTP. Furthermore, the improved hybrid driving program explains Mercedes the electric driving mode for the most sensible route sections. For example, electric driving is given priority on roads in urban areas.

Inside, Mercedes-Benz promises "modern, sporty luxury." For example, with an instrument panel divided horizontally into two areas, generous trim areas and the central display that appears to be floating. The interior also features the latest generation of the infotainment system with two large standard displays and full-screen navigation. In addition, the trunk volume benefits from the more prominent rear overhang and has increased significantly to 620 liters.

The plug-in hybrid range consists of the all-wheel-drive models: GLC 300 e 4MATIC, GLC 400 e 4MATIC, and GLC 300 de 4MATIC. The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 e 4MATIC and GLC 400 e 4MATIC use a 2-liter petrol engine with 150 kW/204 hp and 185 kW/252 hp, respectively, while the electric motor always delivers 100 kW/136 hp. This results in a system output of 230 kW/313 hp and 280 KW/335 hp. The Mercedes-Benz GLC 400 e 4MATIC goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. Gasoline consumption is given as 0.8-0.6 l/100 km, power consumption as 26.8-24.0 kWh/100 km and CO2 emissions as 19-14 g/km. The electric range is up to 120 kilometers.

With 245 kW/335 hp, the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 de 4MATIC accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and continues up to 217 km/h. The battery with 31.2 kWh storage capacity allows 117 electric km per charge. Diesel consumption is 0.7-0.5 l/100 km, power consumption is 27.2-24.4 kWh/100 km and CO2 emissions are 17-13 g/km.

Mercedes-Benz advertises that the new GLC now offers significantly improved on- and off-road capabilities for adverse weather conditions and off-road passages. These included simplified operation via the off-road screen, a better overview thanks to the "transparent bonnet" (a camera shows the way under the front axle), and high traction and driving safety thanks to further developed control systems.

The main components of the dynamically designed chassis, according to Mercedes-Benz, are a new four-link suspension at the front and a multi-link independent rear suspension. The Mercedes-Benz promise that even the basic chassis offers a high suspension, rolling and noise comfort, agile driving characteristics, and driving pleasure. The new Mercedes-Benz GLC is remarkably agile and, at the same time, stable to drive with the optional rear-axle steering and the associated more direct steering ratio on the front axle.

The most recent version of the driving assistance package includes newly developed features in addition to those that were previously included - for example, the active distance assistant Distronic, the active steering assistant, the traffic sign assistant, the new parking package with a 360-degree camera, and the "transparent bonnet" and the trailer maneuvering assistant. @via Mercedes-Benz.
