The new BMW M3 CS was born with a racing soul

BMW M3 CS sports car

BMW begins the year by introducing yet another special sports car from the M division. The BMW M3 CS will be manufactured in Munich for a limited time starting in March 2023. The four-door sedan features a six-cylinder petrol engine with 550 horsepower, an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, M xDrive all-wheel drive, an active M differential, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.4 seconds.

The engine is a modified version of the revving inline six with M TwinPower Turbo technology created for the BMW M3 and BMW M4 cars. This 3.0-liter engine also serves as the foundation for the specially built engine in the BMW M4 GT3, which won the DTM in 2022 with Sheldon van der Linde at the wheel. As a result, the engine of the BMW M3 CS shares many technological elements with the racing car version.

The tailored modifications resulted in a 40 horsepower gain over the BMW M3 Competition Sedan with xDrive. This was accomplished by optimizing the engine's M TwinPower Turbo technology without jeopardizing stability or durability. The eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission with Drivelogic is controlled by either the M-specific gear selector on the center console or the carbon fiber shift buttons on the steering wheel. You can select between comfort, sports, and track-optimized settings by pressing the Drivelogic button.

You may convert from conventional four-wheel drive to sport mode, which sends extra power to the rear wheels. When driving in corners or accelerating, the characteristic M experience is provided by the active M differential. The sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour takes only 3.4 seconds. The acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h takes 11.1 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 302 kilometers per hour. The car comes with track tires and M Compound brakes with red or black brake calipers. Furthermore, M Carbon ceramic brakes are available in matte gold or red.

The dual exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps, a titanium silencer with a weight-reduced design, and two pairs of matte black tailpipes complement the engine's performance. Selecting the SPORT or SPORT+ engine option activates a soundscape with race car undertones, especially during gear changes and the subsequent change in rpm.

The substantial use of lightweight materials in the new BMW M3 CS design is powerful. The top, bonnet, air intakes, mirror caps, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler are all carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), as are other exterior and interior components. The center console, steering wheel toggle switches, and interior moldings comprise CFRP. The standard M Carbon molded seats also help to keep the weight down. All of this adds up to a weight savings of 20 kg over the BMW M3 Competition Sedan with xDrive.

The car's engine, chassis, steering, and brakes can all be modified separately based on the driving situation by pressing a button on the center console. The M Drift Analyzer and M Laptimer capabilities keep track of both driving abilities and track performance.

The model-exclusive color Frozen Solid White is offered on the new BMW M3 CS. It's also available in Signal Green, Brooklyn Gray, and Sapphire Black. With the specifically sculpted kidney grille, BMW laser lights with a yellow glow contribute to the car's distinctive character.

The contoured M Carbon seats are upholstered in Merino leather and a bespoke black and red design with striking contrast stitching, which is also found on the rear seats. The variant comes standard with M seat belts in the well-known BMW M colors.

Now are fifty-one years since the first BMW M model was introduced. Since then, many classic models with the letter M in their designation have delighted loyal BMW enthusiasts worldwide, beginning with the iconic BMW M1 and continuing through several generations of BMW M3 and BMW M5. The fun-to-drive versions have appeared like pearls on a string over the last fifty years. BMW unveiled the all-new BMW M4 CSL, BMW M3 Touring, BMW M2, and the very rare BMW 3.0 CSL in the anniversary year 2022. The BMW M celebration will continue into 2023 with the introduction of the BMW M3 CS.
