The eighth generation of Corvettes abandons the classic engine-front setting in favor of a new rear-center-propulsion structure. After months of rumors and anticipations, it was finally unveiled to the public: the Corvette C8 represents a revolution in the long tradition of the Chevrolet supercars.

Behind the driver and passenger is the 6.2-liter V8 capable of delivering 495 hp; acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is covered in less than 3 seconds and the basic set-up will be called Stingray.

The C8 weighs 1,527 kg and will be available exclusively with the new eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The mechanical structure is sophisticated with the Magnetic Ride Control system which uses a special fluid to quickly adjust the suspension shock absorbers and the presence of an electronic limited-slip differential.

At the beginning of the commercialization, the Corvette will be available only in the Stingray set-up, in the next years other more powerful and performing versions will be presented.

GM expects the C8 Stingray price will start at less than $60,000.
