2027 Honda CB750 Hornet Gets Four Colors, Keeps 90.5 HP

2027 Honda CB750 Hornet

Brand

  • Honda

Honda gives the 2027 Honda CB750 Hornet a full color reset while retaining the mechanical package that made this middleweight naked bike quick, approachable, and relatively light. The European update covers the standard six-speed model and the optional Honda E-Clutch version. Honda has yet to announce 2027 US availability or pricing.

Four New Colors Lead the 2027 Update

Honda now offers four two-tone combinations:

  • Gunmetal Black Metallic with Mat Ballistic Black Metallic
  • Mat Beta Silver Metallic with Iridium Gray Metallic
  • Glint Wave Blue Metallic with Mat Ballistic Black Metallic
  • Grand Prix Red with Gunmetal Black Metallic

Looking at the data, Honda chose showroom freshness over costly mechanical revisions. The company redesigned the front lighting and five-inch TFT interface for 2025, then added E-Clutch for 2026, so the 2027 color cycle keeps a young platform visible without changing its core behavior.

A 755cc Twin Still Supplies the Sting

The 755cc parallel-twin engine uses a 270-degree crank, an eight-valve Unicam cylinder head, and an 11.0:1 compression ratio. Specifically, its oversquare 87 x 63.5 mm bore and stroke, or 3.43 x 2.50 inches, supports a 9,500-rpm power peak while keeping the engine narrow.

Performance measureMetric figureUS conversion
Peak power67.5 kW at 9,500 rpm90.5 hp
Peak torque75 Nm at 7,250 rpm55.3 lb-ft
Claimed top speed205 km/h127 mph
WMTC consumption4.3 L/100 km54.7 mpg
Tank and potential range15.2 L and 340 km4.0 gal and 211 mi

European riders can also select a 34.5-kW A2 version that produces 48.7 lb-ft and reaches approximately 106 mph.

Honda's Vortex Air Flow ducts distribute intake air toward 46 mm throttle bodies. In addition, the primary-drive gear spins the balance shaft, saving space and reducing unwanted vibration. Honda coats the cylinders with nickel-silicon carbide to cut friction, while the assist/slipper clutch limits rear-wheel hop during aggressive downshifts.

Chassis Numbers Favor Fast Street Steering

A 36.6-pound steel diamond frame anchors the CB750 Hornet chassis. The 25-degree rake, 3.9-inch trail, and relatively narrow 160-section rear tire help the bike turn quickly, while a 55.9-inch wheelbase supplies straight-line stability.

Chassis measureStandardE-Clutch
Curb weight423 lb432 lb
Seat height31.3 in31.3 in
Ground clearance5.5 in5.5 in
Front suspension41 mm Showa SFF-BP, 5.1 in travelSame
Rear suspensionPro-Link shock, 5.9 in travelSame
BrakesTwin 11.7-in front, 9.4-in rearSame

Two radial-mount four-piston Nissin calipers squeeze the front discs. By comparison, the rear uses one piston and a smaller disc. The rear shock supplies seven preload settings, but Honda provides no external fork adjustment.

Electronics and E-Clutch Logic

Throttle-by-wire gives riders three preset modes plus two programmable User slots:

  • Sport: maximum power, lightest engine braking, and least traction intervention
  • Standard: middle settings across power, engine braking, and traction control
  • Rain: softest power response and strongest traction intervention
  • User 1 and User 2: saved custom combinations

Consequently, riders can tune response without changing engine output. The five-inch TFT adds RoadSync phone connectivity, while self-canceling turn signals compare wheel speeds instead of relying only on time.

Is the E-Clutch Worth Choosing?

For commuting and repeated stop-and-go riding, yes. The system operates the clutch during starts, stops, upshifts, and auto-blipped downshifts, yet the rider can override it with the lever. It adds only 8.8 pounds.

Pro-Tip: Choose E-Clutch for urban use or daily traffic. Choose the standard bike if minimum mass, mechanical simplicity, and direct clutch control rank higher.

Honda lists the 2027 E-Clutch in Britain at roughly $10,170. That figure includes market-specific taxes and does not predict a US sticker. Honda currently lists the 2026 US E-Clutch at $7,999 plus a $600 destination charge.

Expert Verdict

From an expert perspective, the 2027 Honda CB750 Hornet remains a high-output, low-seat middleweight with strong everyday logic. The new colors add choice, but the 90.5-hp twin, sharp geometry, and optional clutch automation still make the buying case.
