The New Hyundai Bayon: A Fuel-Efficient and Eco-Friendly Crossover SUV

The New Hyundai Bayon: A Fuel-Efficient and Eco-Friendly Crossover SUV

Crossover SUVs are one of the most popular and competitive segments in the automotive industry. They offer the best of both worlds: the spaciousness and versatility of an SUV and the fuel efficiency and maneuverability of a sedan. However, not all crossover SUVs are created equal. Some are too bulky, some are too bland, and some are too expensive.

I was intrigued when I heard about the new Hyundai Bayon, a stylish and sleek crossover SUV that promises to deliver class-leading practicality, a roomy interior, a robust new design, and state-of-the-art safety features. I decided to research and learn more about this new model, and I was impressed by what I discovered. I will share with you some of the key features and benefits of the new Hyundai Bayon and why I think it is a game-changer in the crossover SUV market.

Hyundai Bayon

A Bold and Robust Design

The first thing that caught my eye about the new Hyundai Bayon was its sharp and distinctive design. It has a crossover SUV body type that was designed specifically for Europe, with a front LED DRL (Daytime Running Lights) bar that creates a seamless horizon light signature. The shape and pattern of the front bumper and the radiator grille have been enhanced to create a bolder and more rugged appearance. The rear also features a redesigned bumper and newly designed 16- and 17-inch wheels.

The new Hyundai Bayon has a stylishly cool design that elevates it from the crowd, achieved through eye-catching proportions and graphic features. At the front, the newly designed grille opens at the bottom, creating a solid stance. Overall, angular lines, triangular shapes, and horizontal lines in both the vehicle body and the light architecture emphasize width and give the new Hyundai Bayon a strong, modern appearance.

A total of nine exterior colors are available, including four new colors: Lumen Grey Pearl, Meta Blue Pearl, Lucid Lime Metallic, and Vibrant Blue Pearl. An optional two-tone roof in Phantom Black is also available with several exterior colors, giving the new Hyundai Bayon a unique and personalized look.

A Roomy Interior and Large Boot Space

The new Hyundai Bayon is not only stylish but also practical. It offers a roomy interior and a large boot space for style-conscious and practical buyers. The new Hyundai Bayon has a generous legroom of 1,072 mm in the front and 882 mm in the rear and a headroom of 993 mm in the front and 977 mm in the rear. The luggage capacity is 411 liters, which can be expanded to 1,205 liters by folding the rear seats. The boot floor can be lowered to increase the vertical space, and the rear seats can be folded in a 40:20:40 ratio for more flexibility.

The new Hyundai Bayon also has a refreshed interior, with a state-of-the-art digital cockpit and top-line infotainment features. Customers benefit from a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster, with a standard 10.25-inch Audio Visual Navigation Screen (AVN) screen. The new Hyundai Bayon also offers the latest Bluelink telematics. Two USB-C ports – one in the front and one in the rear – make charging the latest tech devices easier.

The new Hyundai Bayon also features multicolor ambient lighting. The ambient lighting is integrated into the front footwell, door storage, door handle areas, and the center console and passenger-side dashboard. The colors can be changed via the AVN screen, with 64 different options to choose from.

Hyundai Bayon

A Smart and Safe Driving Experience

The new Hyundai Bayon is not only stylish and practical but also smart and safe. It boasts a wide range of safety and connectivity features that set it apart from its competitors. The new Hyundai Bayon is equipped with Hyundai SmartSense, the company's advanced driver assistance system, which includes the following features:

  • Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with pedestrian and cyclist detection and Junction Turning
  • Lane Following Assist (LFA)
  • Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA)
  • Driver Attention Warning (DAW)
  • Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA)
  • Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)
  • Blind-Spot Collision Warning (BCW)
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA)
  • Safe Exit Warning (SEW)
  • Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist - Reverse (PCA-R)
  • Parking Assist (PA) with rearview monitor and parking guidance
  • High Beam Assist (HBA)

The new Hyundai Bayon also offers a range of connectivity features that enhance the convenience and comfort of the driver and passengers. The new Hyundai Bayon supports Over-the-Air (OTA) map updates, which allow customers to update their navigation system without visiting a dealership. The new Hyundai Bayon also features the Hyundai Digital Key 2 Touch, which enables customers to use their smartphone as a key to lock and unlock the vehicle, start the engine, and activate the climate control. The new Hyundai Bayon also supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, allowing customers to mirror their smartphone's functionality on the AVN screen without the need for a cable.

A Fuel-Efficient and Eco-Friendly Performance

The new Hyundai Bayon is fuel-efficient and eco-friendly. It offers a range of powertrain options that deliver a smooth and responsive performance while also reducing emissions and fuel consumption. The new Hyundai Bayon is available with two petrol engines: a 1.0-liter T-GDI engine with 100 or 120 PS and a 1.2-liter MPi engine with 84 PS. The 1.0-liter T-GDI engine can be paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, which supports the combustion engine with additional torque during acceleration and reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 11%. The 1.0-litre T-GDI engine can also be equipped with Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT), which allows it to save more fuel.

The new Hyundai Bayon also offers three drive modes: Eco, Normal, and Sport, which adjust the engine response and steering effort to suit the driving conditions and preferences. The new Hyundai Bayon also features Idle Stop and Go (ISG) when the driver presses the clutch or releases the brake pedal, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

The new Hyundai Bayon has a fuel consumption of 4.8 to 5.6 liters per 100 km and a CO2 emission of 110 to 128 grams per km, depending on the engine and transmission combination. The new Hyundai Bayon also complies with the Euro 6d emission standard, which sets stricter limits for nitrogen oxides (NOx) and particulate matter (PM) emissions.

Hyundai Bayon

A Competitive and Affordable Price

The new Hyundai Bayon is not only fuel-efficient and eco-friendly but also competitive and affordable. It offers a high-value proposition for customers looking for a stylish, practical, smart, and safe crossover SUV without breaking the bank. The new Hyundai Bayon has a starting price of $19,500, which is lower than some of its rivals in the segment, such as the Ford Puma, the Renault Captur, and the Volkswagen T-Cross. The new Hyundai Bayon also comes with a five-year unlimited mileage warranty, as well as five years of roadside assistance and five years of annual health checks, giving customers peace of mind and confidence in their purchase.

Conclusion

The new Hyundai Bayon is a stylish crossover SUV with class-leading practicality, a roomy interior, a robust new design, and state-of-the-art safety features. It offers a smart and safe driving experience, a fuel-efficient and eco-friendly performance, and a competitive and affordable price. It is a game-changer in the crossover SUV market and a great choice for customers looking for a versatile, reliable, and attractive vehicle.
