If you are looking for a compact crossover that combines style, performance, and technology, you might want to check out the new 2024 BMW X2. The X2 is a sleeker and sportier version of the X1, with a lower roofline, a more aggressive front end, and a shorter tail. It also offers a new electric option, the iX2, that promises to deliver a green and fun driving experience.

The 2024 BMW X2 will hit the US market in the spring of 2024, with three different models to choose from: the xDrive28i, the M35i xDrive, and the iX2. The xDrive28i and the M35i xDrive are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine but with different outputs: 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque for the xDrive28i, and 312 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque for the M35i xDrive. Both models come with all-wheel drive and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds (xDrive28i) or 5.2 seconds (M35i xDrive).

The M35i xDrive is the sportiest variant of the X2, with a stiffer suspension, bigger brakes, and a louder exhaust system. It also has a more distinctive exterior design, with quad tailpipes, a rear spoiler, and larger air intakes. The starting price for the xDrive28i is $75,900, while the M35i xDrive costs $92,900.

The BMW iX2 is the most intriguing addition to the X2 lineup, as it is the first all-electric version of the crossover. The iX2 shares the same platform and battery technology as the iX1, which was unveiled earlier this year as BMW's first electric subcompact SUV. The iX2 has a single electric motor on the rear axle, producing 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It has a range of about 250 miles on a single charge, according to BMW’s estimates based on the European WLTP cycle. The BMW iX2 can also support fast charging up to 150 kW, allowing it to replenish 80% of its battery in about 30 minutes.

The BMW iX2 has some design cues that differentiate it from its gasoline-powered siblings, such as a closed-off grille, blue accents, and aerodynamic wheels. It also has a slightly lower cargo capacity due to the battery pack under the floor. The price and availability of the iX2 have not been announced yet.

The new BMW X2 models feature a more modern and refined interior, with a curved display that combines a 10.7-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. The display runs on BMW’s latest operating system, iDrive 9, which offers improved voice control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, over-the-air updates, and personalization options.

The BMW X2 also offers some innovative features new to the BMW brand, such as AirConsole gaming, which allows passengers to play games on the touchscreen using their smartphones as controllers. The games include racing, sport, quizzes, and skill categories, and more will be added in the future.

Another feature is Remote View, which lets owners check on their vehicle from their smartphone using a live 3D image of the car and its surroundings. This can be useful for finding the car in a crowded parking lot or monitoring its security. The X2 also has a Crash Recorder that automatically saves up to one minute of footage in case of an accident.

The new BMW X2 will compete with other premium compact crossovers that offer coupe-like styling and performance, such as the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, the Audi Q3 Sportback, and the Range Rover Evoque. It will also face some electric rivals, such as the Volvo XC40 Recharge and the Tesla Model Y.

The new BMW X2 aims to appeal to buyers who want a blend of style, sportiness, and technology in a small SUV package. With its bigger dimensions, power, and features, it hopes to stand out from its competitors and predecessor. And with its electric option, it hopes to attract a new generation of customers who are looking for a greener way to drive.
