The JAS Tensei brings the original Honda NSX back into focus. JAS Motorsport and Pininfarina presented the finished car on October, 2026, combining a first-generation NSX aluminum chassis with carbon-fiber bodywork, Judd engine development, and a six-speed manual transmission.
JAS plans just 35 examples, assembled in Arluno, Italy. American enthusiasts will recognize the donor's Acura NSX heritage, but this project comes from Honda's longtime racing partner.
Judd V6: Higher Revs, No Turbochargers
Judd retains the Honda C30A block and increases displacement to 3.5 liters. New cylinder heads, titanium valves, and six individual throttle bodies support high-rpm breathing; fixed cam timing replaces VTEC.
JAS's technical sheet specifies the following figures:
| Engine data | Metric specification | US equivalent |
|---|---|---|
| Displacement | 3,500 cc | 213.6 cubic inches |
| Peak power | 420 CV at 8,300 rpm | Approximately 414 hp |
| Peak torque | 414 Nm at 5,500 rpm | Approximately 305 lb-ft |
| Rev limit | 8,500 rpm | 8,500 rpm |
| Dry weight | 1,250 kg | Approximately 2,756 lb |
Looking at the data, the Tensei delivers approximately 6.7 pounds per horsepower using dry weight. Fuel and operating fluids increase actual road weight, so that ratio does not represent a curb-weight comparison.
A mechanical Torsen limited-slip differential manages rear-wheel torque. Specifically, its torque-biasing action helps distribute drive between the rear tires as available traction changes.
Carbon Fiber, Wider Tracks, Larger Brakes
Pininfarina preserves the low hood, integrated rear spoiler, and pop-up headlights while changing the proportions. JAS extends the wheelbase by 55 mm, or 2.17 inches, and widens the front and rear tracks by 170 mm and 190 mm respectively.
The technical sheet lists a 101.8-inch wheelbase, 173.8-inch length, and 45.1-inch height.
| Chassis equipment | Front | Rear |
|---|---|---|
| Wheel dimensions | 19 x 9 inches | 20 x 10.5 inches |
| Tire size | 245/35 R19 | 285/30 R20 |
| Brake rotor diameter | 380 mm / 15.0 inches | 360 mm / 14.2 inches |
| Brake calipers | Six pistons | Four pistons |
| Suspension | Double wishbones | Five-link arrangement |
In addition, KW dampers control suspension movement, while carbon reinforcement strengthens the original aluminum structure. Pininfarina gives the cabin carbon-fiber surfaces, Sabelt seats, and a prominent tachometer rather than a dominant central touchscreen.
How Can US Buyers Order a Tensei?
Graham Rahal Performance handles US sales and customer service. Reports place the starting conversion price around $985,000, excluding the donor car; taxes and personalization increase the total.
Pro-Tips Before Committing
- Request a written final specification: JAS's technical sheet and promotional materials publish conflicting engine-output figures.
- Confirm donor eligibility, delivery timing, and the complete USD price.
- Request road-test results. The launch documents provide no 0-60 mph or EPA fuel-economy figures.
