The 2024 Porsche Panamera: More Than Meets the Eye

2024 Porsche Panamera

The Porsche Panamera is one of the most iconic luxury sports sedans in the world, combining the performance and design of a Porsche with the comfort and practicality of a four-door car. Since its debut in 2009, the Panamera has undergone several updates and enhancements, but the latest generation, set to launch in 2024, promises to be the most radical and innovative yet.

The new Panamera, which will make its world premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show in November 2023, will feature a more digital, luxurious, and efficient design than its predecessors and a wider range of powertrain options, including four plug-in hybrid variants. Porsche claims that the new Panamera will offer a more refined and dynamic driving experience and a more spacious and sophisticated interior.

What’s new for the 2024 Porsche Panamera?

The 2024 Porsche Panamera will have a new exterior design that will make it more aerodynamic and distinctive, with sharper lines, slimmer headlights, and a more aggressive front grille. The rear end will also be redesigned with a full-width LED light strip and a more integrated spoiler. The new Panamera will be available in three body styles: sedan, executive (long-wheelbase), and sport turismo (wagon).

2024 Porsche Panamera

The interior of the new Panamera will be more luxurious and digital, with a 12.6-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.9-inch central touchscreen, and an optional 7-inch touchscreen for the front passenger. The new Panamera will also have more ambient lighting, improved seat foam, and a higher-quality sound system. The trunk space will vary depending on the body style, but it will be around 17.6 cubic feet for the sedan, 15.7 cubic feet for the executive, and 18.3 cubic feet for the sport turismo.

The new Porsche Panamera will have a more efficient and powerful powertrain lineup with four plug-in hybrid options. The base model will have a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 325 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive version will have the same engine but with 440 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque.

2024 Porsche Panamera

The plug-in hybrid models will have a larger battery pack of 25.9 kWh, up from 17.9 kWh, and a more powerful electric motor of 140 kW, up from 100 kW. The hybrid models will also have a new dual-clutch automatic transmission that integrates the electric motor into the housing. The hybrid models will include:

  • The Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and an electric motor, produces a combined 462 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque.
  • The Porsche Panamera 4S E-Hybrid, with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine and an electric motor that produces a combined 560 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.
  • The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid, with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine and an electric motor, produces a combined 690 horsepower and 642 lb-ft of torque.
  • The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Sport Turismo, with the same powertrain as the Turbo S E-Hybrid but with a wagon body style.

The new Porsche Panamera will also have a more advanced chassis and suspension system, with two-valve shock absorbers with independent compression and rebound and an optional active damper control offering a more sophisticated ride quality and handling. The new Panamera will also have a more responsive steering system, a more powerful braking system, and a more intelligent stability control system.

How does the 2024 Porsche Panamera compare to its competitors?

The 2024 Porsche Panamera will face some tough competition from other luxury sports sedans, such as the Audi A7, the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe, and the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. Here is a comparison table that shows some of the key features and specifications of these models:

Model Starting Price Engine Horsepower Torque 0-60 mph Fuel Economy
Porsche Panamera $89,000 2.9L twin-turbo V6 325 hp 332 lb-ft 5.3 s 18/24 mpg
Audi A7 $70,295 3.0L turbo V6 335 hp 369 lb-ft 5.2 s 22/29 mpg
BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe $85,995 3.0L turbo I6 335 hp 368 lb-ft 4.9 s 23/30 mpg
Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class $74,000 3.0L turbo I6 362 hp 369 lb-ft 5.1 s 23/30 mpg

As you can see, the Porsche Panamera is the most expensive and the least fuel-efficient of the bunch, but it also has the most powertrain options and the most distinctive design. The Audi A7 is the most affordable and the most spacious, but it also has the least impressive engine. The BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe is the most agile and the most stylish, but it also has the smallest trunk. The Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class is the most balanced and refined, but it also has the least practical rear seat.

2024 Porsche Panamera

Why should you buy the 2024 Porsche Panamera?

The 2024 Porsche Panamera is a car that offers the best of both worlds: the performance and design of a Porsche and the comfort and practicality of a four-door car. The new Panamera will have a more digital, luxurious, and efficient design than its predecessors and a wider range of powertrain options, including four plug-in hybrid variants. The new Panamera will also have a more refined, dynamic driving experience and a more spacious and sophisticated interior.

If you are looking for a luxury sports sedan that will make you stand out from the crowd, the 2024 Porsche Panamera is the car for you. It will be available in the spring of 2024, starting at $89,000. However, if you want to glimpse the new Panamera before then, watch its world premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show in November 2023. @via RoadandTrack.
