Toyota presented the new generation Supra at the Detroit Auto Show. The Japanese manufacturer proposes a model of the sports car tailored especially to give you the same advantages with which the first generations have conquered the automotive world.
The new Supra is being developed in collaboration with the german manufacturer BMW.
Toyota Supra has a length of 4.380 mm, the width is 1.865 mm, and the height reaches to 1,295 mm. The wheelbase announced by the japanese manufacturer is 2.470 mm, the same value being last in the brother's right of platform BMW Z4. Also, customers will notice a steering wheel with a design closer to those used by BMW, and the infotainment system brings to mind all the bavarian models. Toyota has announced that the digital dashboard instruments have a screen of 8.8 inches, and customers will be able to order and a head-up display.
The Japanese say that the Supra will have two drive modes (Normal and Sport) and of a system launch control.
The new-generation Supra will be available with three petrol engines, all of which are taken from the range of BMW Z4.
The base variant will bet on a 2.0-liter engine with a four-cylinder engine able to deliver 197 horsepower between 4,500 and 6,500 rpm, and 320 Nm between 1.450 and 4.200 rpm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes place in 6.5 seconds, 0.1 seconds better compared to the Z4 sDrive20i.
The second proposed variant of Toyota relies all on the engine of 2.0 liters. This time, the unit delivers 258 horsepower between 5,000 and 6,500 rpm, and 400 Nm of from 1.550 rpm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is carried out in 5.2 seconds.
Top of the range prepared by Toyota uses a powertrain of 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line. The unit on gasoline provides 340 horsepower from 5,000 rpm and 500 Nm of torque starting at 1,600 rpm. With a total mass of 1520 kilograms, the top version of his Supra needs 4.3 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h.
The new generation Toyota Supra will be available starting with the summer of this year.
