BMW M has unveiled its new flagship model, the BMW XM Label Red, a plug-in hybrid SUV that combines electrifying performance, extravagant design, and limited availability. The BMW XM Label Red is based on the BMW XM, which was launched in December 2022 as the first-ever high-performance car with an electrified drive system from BMW M2. The BMW XM Label Red takes the M HYBRID system to a new level, with a system output of 550 kW/748 hp and a system torque of 1,000 Nm/737 lb-ft. These figures make it the most powerful BMW M model ever made and the most powerful car in the Sports Activity Vehicle and Sports Activity Coupé segments.
The BMW XM Label Red features a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine that produces up to 430 kW/585 hp and an electric motor that delivers up to 145 kW/197 hp. The electric motor and V8 twin-turbocharged engine work together seamlessly to deliver power instantly and consistently throughout the rev range, similar to the drive concept of the new BMW M Hybrid V8 endurance racing car that will compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024.
The BMW XM Label Red accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), which can be improved to 280 km/h (174 mph) with the optional M Driver's package. The BMW XM Label Red also has an estimated electric driving range of around 50 km (31 miles), thanks to its 19.2-kWh lithium-ion battery pack under the floor.
The BMW XM Label Red stands out from the crowd with its distinctive design accents that showcase its standout performance attributes. The exterior features a deep blue paint job with red rings around its cartoonish kidney grille, red stripes along its flanks and up around its side windows, carbon fiber accents, 23-inch forged wheels, and a custom exhaust system. The interior is equally luxurious, with premium BRABUS Platinum upholstery, blue carbon trim, a panoramic roof, and a high-end sound system.
The BMW XM Label Red hybrid SUV is aimed at customers who appreciate exclusivity and rarity. Production will commence in August 2023 at BMW Group Plant Spartanburg in the United States, and only 500 units will be available worldwide. The BMW XM Label Red hybrid SUV will make its debut at the Auto Shanghai International Motor Show in April 2023, and it will be available for purchase from dealers starting on April 28, 2023. China and the United States are key markets for this model.
