Opel Grandland GSe plug-in hybrid SUV

Opel is starting the new year by taking orders for the new Opel Astra GSe and Opel Grandland GSe. The brand also shows customers what they can expect from the brand in 2023. The new top-of-the-line Opel models have exhilarating performance, a well-tuned chassis, and an electric plug-in hybrid drive that lets you drive without causing any pollution in your immediate area. They also have a fun design typical of the new sporty brand GSe. The Opel Astra GSe and Opel Grandland GSe SUV have unique 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels and bumpers with a rear diffuser only found on GSe models. Inside, the driver and front passenger will find GSe-specific sports seats. Many advanced assistance systems from Opel are also part of the package. Prices for the new Opel Astra GSe start at $53,000, and the new Opel Grandland GSe starts at $60,000.

Opel Grandland GSe plug-in hybrid SUV

The new Opel Astra GSe makes a clear statement with a system output of 165 kW (225 hp) and a maximum torque of 360 Nm. The 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine puts out 133 kW (180 hp), and the electric motor can put out up to 81.2 kW (110 hp). You can count on a fast start and a high top speed. The hatchback can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, and its top speed is 235 km/h (135 km/h when it's only running on electricity). Because it has a 12.4 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Astra GSe can drive up to 64 km without releasing any pollution into the air. The average amount of fuel used is 1.2–1.1 l/100 km, and the average amount of CO2 emitted is only 26–25 g/km (WLTP values).

The new Opel GSe models set a new standard for chassis technology. The driver gets feedback from the car, making them feel like they are one with it. As a GSe, the Opel Astra is even faster and more accurate than it was before. 10 mm has been taken off of the chassis. Even more directly, the steering, suspension, and brakes respond to the driver's actions. The KONI FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) technology changes how the damping works based on the situation. This makes the handling even more precise and the ride more comfortable.

Opel Grandland GSe

The new Opel Grandland GSe SUV is the same way. The performance of the high-performance SUV goes even further: the Opel Grandland GSe SUV combines the power of a 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine with 147 kW (200 hp) of power with that of two electric motors, one at the front and one at the back. The electric motor on the front axle can put out up to 81.2 kW (110 hp), and the one on the back axle can put out up to 83 kW. (113 hp). The result is a system power of up to 221 kW (300 hp), with an average fuel consumption of only 1.2 l/100 km and a CO 2emissions averaging 28-27 g/km (WLTP) (WLTP).

The Opel Grandland GSe is a fun SUV because it has a plug-in hybrid drive. It has permanent electric all-wheel drive and excellent traction because of this. From 0 to 100 km/h, it only takes 6.1 seconds, which is the fastest in its class. The top speed, like the Opel Astra GSe, is 235 km/h (135 km/h fully electric). With its 14.6 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Grandland GSe can drive up to 63 kilometers without putting out any pollution in its immediate area. Even 80-81 kilometers from the city (WLTP).

Opel Grandland GSe

With the Opel Vizor, the new Opel Astra and Opel Grandland really stand out because of how bold and clear their designs are. Signature GSe details make the two top versions look even sharper and more distinctive. The 18-inch alloy wheels of the Astra GSe and the 19-inch alloy wheels of the Grandland GSe, which were inspired by those of the all-electric Manta GSe, emphasize the sporty look, as do the GSe-specific front bumper, the GSe lettering on the tailgate, and the unique rear diffuser of both models.

Inside, the Alcantara-covered AGR-certified GSe sports seats are comfortable for the driver and front passenger. The GSe models are the only ones with sports seats, and Opel has always made comfortable seats. They always keep the driver and front passenger in place, even when driving quickly, and they always support the back in the best way possible. Thanks to heated seats and a steering wheel, you'll be nice and warm even on cold days.

All of the advanced assistance systems that Opel offers for the Grandland and Astra are in the portfolio. For example, the Opel Astra GSe comes with the Intelli-Drive 1.0 system, which includes Forward Collision Alert and Active Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Driver Fatigue Detection, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Assistant, Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Warning, and Automatic Speed Assist with a stop function. The front and back parking assistants and the 360-degree Intelli-Vision camera help the driver move around. The multimedia navigation system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 10-inch touchscreen gives passengers a lot of options. The 10-inch digital panel can be seen by the driver (12 inches in the Grandland GSe).

Opel Grandland GSe

Fans of the GSe who want the Opel Astra Sports Tourer GSe will have to wait a little longer. Opel will soon say how much the sporty station wagon will cost.

"The name "Grand Sport Electric" is a promise: our new models will give our customers high voltage. With the most up-to-date technology, they are very fun to drive and produce low CO2 emissions. The powerful and emission-free plug-in hybrid drive makes sure of this. With these models, we're taking another step toward becoming a fully electric brand in Europe by 2028," says Florian Huttl, CEO of Opel.
