Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new AMG GT Coupé, the most powerful and exclusive version of its flagship sports car. The new model, which will be available in the US market in early 2024, features a revised design, enhanced performance, and a range of innovative technologies that make it the ultimate expression of Driving Performance.
Design: A distinctive and dynamic appearance
The new AMG GT Coupé stands out from the crowd with its distinctive and dynamic appearance. The AMG-specific radiator grille dominates the front end, which has vertical chrome-plated fins and a large central star. The LED high-performance headlamps have a new light signature, and the front apron has larger air intakes and a front splitter that can be extended or retracted depending on the driving mode.
The long hood, the low greenhouse, and the muscular rear end characterize the side profile of the new AMG GT Coupé. The AMG GT Coupé has a carbon-fiber roof as standard, which reduces weight and lowers the center of gravity. The AMG GT C also features active aerodynamics in the form of an adaptive rear spoiler that adjusts its angle and height according to the speed and driving situation.
The rear end of the new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Coupé is equally striking, with a new diffuser, a redesigned bumper, and a trapezoidal exhaust system with two twin tailpipes. The LED taillights have a dark tint and a three-dimensional look. The AMG GT Coupé is available in eight exterior colors, including two new ones: Spectral Blue Metallic and Spectral Blue Magno.
Performance: A powerful and agile driving experience
The new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine that delivers 550 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT transmission that offers fast and smooth gear changes. The AMG GT Coupé can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 197 mph.
The new AMG GT Coupé also benefits from a range of performance-enhancing features, such as the AMG RIDE CONTROL sport suspension with adaptive damping, the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT system with six driving modes, the AMG electronic rear-axle limited-slip differential, and the AMG high-performance composite braking system. The AMG GT C also has rear-axle steering, which improves agility and stability at low and high speeds.
The new AMG GT Coupé offers a thrilling and engaging driving experience thanks to its rear-wheel-drive layout, low center of gravity, balanced weight distribution, and precise and direct steering. The AMG GT Coupé also has a Race Start function, which optimizes the launch control for maximum acceleration. The AMG GT Coupé also has a Race drive mode, which activates the most dynamic settings for the engine, transmission, suspension, steering, and exhaust.
Technology: A smart and connected cockpit
The new Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Coupé has a smart and connected cockpit that combines luxury and functionality. The interior features high-quality materials, such as Nappa leather, carbon fiber, and aluminum. The AMG GT Coupé has sporty and comfortable seats, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and a center console with eight buttons that control various functions.
The new AMG GT Coupé also has a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia display, which are integrated into a single unit. The displays can be customized and controlled via touch, voice, or the touchpad on the center console. The AMG GT Coupé also has the MBUX infotainment system, which features natural language recognition, online navigation, smartphone integration, and a range of AMG-specific functions and displays.
The new AMG GT Coupé also offers high safety and convenience, thanks to a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems. The AMG GT Coupé has features such as active brake assist, active lane-keeping assist, active blind spot assist, active parking assist, adaptive high beam assist, and a surround-view camera. The AMG GT Coupé also has the PRE-SAFE system, which prepares the vehicle and the occupants for an imminent collision.
