The British company Apex Motors is preparing to enter the market of electric sports cars. Her first-car will be a two-seater coupe called AP-0, a fully electric sports car. The AP-0 was originally intended to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show (cancelled because of the coronavirus).
The Apex AP-0 will be a true race-oriented sports car, although the company promises to obtain certification for admission to public roads. The 650 hp electric drive enables the sprint from 0 to 100 km / h in just 2.3 seconds and a top speed of over 300 km / h.
The 1.2-ton lightweight sports car is particularly noteworthy in view of a 90-kilowatt hour battery, which should allow a range of up to 515 kilometres (WLTP). Fast charging technology should enable the battery to be charged up to 80% in just 15 minutes.
A feature of the model will be the use of a single motor, while competitors usually use a twin-engine layout. If the design of the AP-0 seems so aggressive, it is because its creators wanted to give it the air of a dragon.
The AP-0 now presented is a concept car but Apex is already taking pre-orders. It is estimated that the cost of one copy will be about 165,000 euros.
In addition to its great sporting qualities and supercar performance, the Apex AP-0 electric car is equipped with a complex autonomous level 3 driving system, upgradeable in the future up to a level 4. All Adas systems receive information on the environment surrounding by the roof-mounted Lidar sensor, while the AR Race Instructor system projects the ideal trajectories for a sporty and safe ride in augmented reality.
