  3. The 2024 Honda Prologue from $47,400

The 2024 Honda Prologue from $47,400

The 2024 Honda Prologue from $47,400

The 2024 Honda Prologue is the latest addition to the growing market of electric SUVs. It is Honda’s second attempt at an EV after the ill-fated Clarity sedan, and it promises to deliver a class-leading standard range, a spacious and comfortable interior, and a competitive price.

But how does the Prologue compare to other electric SUVs, such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Tesla Model Y? And what makes it stand out from the crowd? I will answer these questions and explain why the Prologue might be the best electric SUV for you.

What is the 2024 Honda Prologue?

The 2024 Honda Prologue is an electric SUV that is based on a platform developed jointly with General Motors. It uses the same Ultium battery pack that powers GM’s new EVs, such as the Chevrolet Equinox EV and the Cadillac Lyriq. However, the Prologue has a unique body, styling, and interior designed by Honda.

2024 Honda Prologue

The new Prologue will be available in three trim levels: EX, Touring, and Elite. It will also offer two powertrain options: a single-motor front-wheel drive that makes 212 horsepower and a dual-motor all-wheel drive that makes 288 horsepower. The front-wheel drive model has an EPA-estimated range of 296 miles, while the all-wheel drive model has a range of 273 miles.

The Honda Prologue will start arriving at dealers in March 2024, with a starting price of $47,400. It will be eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $7,500, depending on the buyer’s tax situation. The Prologue will also be followed by a more luxurious Acura ZDX electric SUV, which will share the same platform and battery, but will have more power and features.

What are the main features of the 2024 Honda Prologue?

The 2024 Honda Prologue has a number of features that make it an attractive choice for electric SUV buyers. Some of the main features are:

  • A long and spacious wheelbase that provides ample room for passengers and cargo. The Prologue has a wheelbase of 121.8 inches, which is longer than the Honda Odyssey minivan. It also has a length of 192 inches, which is similar to the Honda Passport midsize SUV. The Prologue can seat five people comfortably and has a cargo capacity of 28.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 63.5 cubic feet with the second row folded.
  • A sleek and modern exterior design that does not scream “electric”. The Prologue has a restrained look that blends in with other Honda models but also has some distinctive elements, such as the LED headlights and taillights, the panoramic sunroof, and the 21-inch wheels. The Prologue also has a low and aerodynamic profile that improves its efficiency and performance.
  • A simple and elegant interior design that is loaded with technology and convenience. The Prologue has a streamlined dashboard that features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment system runs on Honda’s own software, which is compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. The Prologue also has a wireless smartphone charging pad, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a head-up display, and a rearview camera mirror. The Prologue also offers leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, memory seat settings, and a heated steering wheel on higher trims.
  • A fast and efficient powertrain that delivers a smooth and quiet ride. The Prologue has an 85-kWh battery pack that can be charged up to 155 kW, which means it can go from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes. The Prologue also has a regenerative braking system that can be adjusted by the paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The Prologue can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6 seconds, and has a top speed of 120 mph. The Prologue also has a range of driver-assist features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and cross-traffic alert.

2024 Honda Prologue

How does the 2024 Honda Prologue compare to other electric SUVs?

The 2024 Honda Prologue faces a lot of competition from other electric SUVs, such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Ford Mustang Mach-E, and the Tesla Model Y. Here is a comparison table that shows how the Prologue stacks up against these rivals:

Model Price Range Power Cargo
2024 Honda Prologue FWD $47,400 296 miles 212 hp 28.5/63.5 cu ft
2024 Honda Prologue AWD $49,900 273 miles 288 hp 28.5/63.5 cu ft
2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 RWD $40,000 300 miles 225 hp 27.2/59.3 cu ft
2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5 AWD $44,000 269 miles 320 hp 27.2/59.3 cu ft
2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E RWD $43,995 305 miles 266 hp 29.7/59.7 cu ft
2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E AWD $46,695 270 miles 346 hp 29.7/59.7 cu ft
2021 Tesla Model Y RWD $41,990 326 miles 384 hp 33/68 cu ft
2021 Tesla Model Y AWD $51,990 303 miles 384 hp 33/68 cu ft

As you can see, the Prologue has a higher price and a lower power than some of its competitors, but it also has a longer range and a larger cargo space than most of them. The Prologue also has a more conventional and conservative design than some of the more futuristic and flashy models, which might appeal to some buyers who prefer a more familiar and practical look.

2024 Honda Prologue

Why should you buy the 2024 Honda Prologue?

The new Honda Prologue is a great option for anyone looking for an electric SUV that offers a long-range, spacious interior and reliable performance. Honda’s reputation also backs the Prologue for quality, durability, and customer service, which gives it an edge over some of the newer and less established brands. The Prologue also has a competitive price, especially after applying the federal tax credit, which makes it more affordable than some of the more expensive models.

The 2024 Honda Prologue is not a perfect electric SUV and might not be the best choice for everyone. Some buyers might prefer a more powerful, more stylish, or more innovative model or a model that has a larger network of charging stations. However, for those who value a balanced and well-rounded electric SUV that can meet their everyday needs, the Prologue might be the best electric SUV for them. @via EV Stories.
