Following the Megane E-TECH Electric and Arkana, Renault has unveiled the new Renault Austral SUV, the first in a series of new small SUVs in the C-segment. The model is 4.51 meters in length and seats up to five passengers.
The new Renault Austral exemplifies Renault's strategy and objective of expanding its SUV lineup in the C-segment. Renault's new design language emphasizes the model's sporty, sensual, and technological appeal. The inside is stylish and high-tech, with ample room and a high degree of comfort often associated with Renault's family vehicle models.
For the first time, a Renault vehicle is released in an Esprit Alpine-exclusive trim level. Alpine's sporty DNA inspires the design, and the edition has an exclusive Satin Shale Gray color. This new generation of body paint features a matte finish that is simple to maintain. The athletic impression is emphasized with 20-inch diamond-cut black Daytona alloy wheels with the Alpine logo, black roof rails, and other black ornamental elements. The Esprit Alpine logo is located on the side fenders. Inside, the Esprit Alpine features several unusual parts: blue seams; unique Alcantara upholstery with carbon fiber twill fabric; Nappa leather steering wheel with blue, white, and red Alcantara inserts and seams; and aluminum pedals and door sills with the Alpine symbol.
The new Renault Austral is based on the third generation CMF-CD platform. It provides a variety of electric powertrains with the lowest emissions and fuel economy in their class. In addition, Renault introduces a new series of E-TECH full hybrid engines and a 1.3 TCe mild-hybrid 12V and a 1.2 TCe mild-hybrid 48V engine. The engines reduce emissions while delivering maximum power, starting at 105 g CO2 / km (for the E-TECH engine on the WLTP cycle) and delivering up to 200 hp.
The new Renault Austral has innovative, proactive, and intelligent technology, including MULTI-SENSE Advanced with 4CONTROL and over 30 driving aids. The giant OpenR screen is powered by the OpenR Link multimedia system, including the most up-to-date Google services and apps. In addition, the over 1,000 cm2 total display surface (among the largest on the market) enables an intuitive and connected driving experience.
Quality and durability were critical components of the design effort and got considerable attention.
