This is the case of this Shelby GT500 Super Snake from 1967, a unique piece that has survived more than 50 years of history.
Price
This car was auctioned at the Mecum event in Kissimmee, a massive auction in which experts had estimated its price between 1.1 and 1.2 million dollars. Well, hold on because the final selling price of this relic was 2.2 million dollars! This exorbitant amount was not due to pure speculative fever but because this particular car is a unique prototype that was once discarded for production because it was excessively expensive.
Origin
The Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 Super Snake was created as a prototype for a Goodyear tire promotion.
The 427 cubic-inch V8 engine of this Super Snake came directly from the same block used by the Ford GT40 participants in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with the same exhaust system as the vintage supercar and offering a massive power: 520 hp.
The Super Snake use special dampers and springs, reinforced brake lines, Goodyear tires inflated with nitrogen and a special oil filter.
