Mercedes-Benz Trucks is celebrating the world premiere of its eActros battery-electric truck for heavy-duty distribution transport. With the first electric series-production truck, Mercedes heralds a new era and underscores its clear commitment to CO2-neutral road freight transport. The series model of the Mercedes-Benz eActros electric truck is due to roll off the production line in Wörth am Rhein in autumn 2021.

The findings from the eActros electric truck launched in 2018 and the close exchange with customers have been incorporated into the development of the series model. In addition, proven features such as the MirrorCam and the Multimedia Cockpit Interactive have been adopted as standard equipment.

The new Mercedes-Benz eActros electric truck is available with three or four battery packs, each with an energy of around 105 kWh. The maximum battery capacity of 420 kWh enables a range of up to 400 kilometres. The technological heart of the electric truck is the drive unit, an electric rigid axle with two integrated electric motors and a two-speed gearbox.

The two liquid-cooled electric motors generate a continuous output of 330 kW and a peak output of 400 kW. In addition, with an anticipatory driving style, electrical energy can be recovered. The energy gained during braking is fed back into the car's batteries and is then available for use again.

The two integrated electric motors with high efficiency lead to an even power delivery with high starting torque. The direct torque provision of the electric motors paired with a two-speed gearbox ensures powerful acceleration, impressive driving comfort and driving dynamics that enable more relaxed and stress-free driving compared to conventional diesel trucks.

The low centre of gravity also favours improved cornering. In full-load operation, the interior noise level, which has been reduced by 10 dB, also contributes to more pleasant driving - this corresponds to roughly halving the perceived volume. Thanks to the low noise level, night deliveries are also possible.

In contrast to a diesel truck, there are also significantly fewer vibrations. The Mercedes-Benz eActros electric truck can be charged at up to 160 kW: the three battery packs require slightly more than an hour to charge from 20 to 80% at a standard DC fast charging station with 400A charging current.

To support transport companies every step of the way when switching to e-mobility, Mercedes-Benz Trucks has embedded the eActros in an ecosystem that also includes advisory and service offers as well as digital solutions for high vehicle use and optimization of overall costs. For example, a realistic and meaningful usage profile of electric trucks for the respective customer is determined based on existing routes.

Also included in the so-called eConsulting is the electrification of the depot and, depending on the customer's request, all planning, application, and implementation questions relating to the charging infrastructure as well as the network connection - Mercedes-Benz Truck has a special strategic partnership with Siemens Smart Infrastructure, ENGIE and EVBox Group. On request, Mercedes-Benz Trucks can also assist in identifying possible public subsidies for infrastructure and vehicles. @via Electric Hunter.
