2020 McLaren GT: 0 to 100 km / h in 3.2s

2020 McLaren GT: 0 to 100 km / h in 3.2s

The majority of manufacturers of luxury models consider that a car must have its motor in front. McLaren laughs at the established principles and proposes a rival for the Aston Martin DB11, Ferrari Portofino and Bentley Continental GT with a central engine architecture. Simply christened McLaren GT, the new model of the brand leaves us somewhat surprised, both for its concept and its design.

The McLaren GT replaces the McLaren 570 GT in the range. The brand ensures that this new model is lighter, faster and more rewarding when it comes to driving than any other car in the Grand Touring segment.

The McLaren GT measures 4.68 meters long by 2.09 meters wide. It shares a structure in carbon fiber very similar to that of the 720S. That's what allows the McLaren GT to have a 420-liter boot, the largest boot in the manufacturer's range - and probably the largest we've seen in a central-engine car. With 420 liters of capacity, the boot of the McLaren GT offers the same capacity as a Peugeot 308.

Apart from offering a load capacity superior to that of many compact cars, the McLaren GT also offers a wider interior than the other models in the range. The roof is similar to that of the 720S, with very thin C-pillars.

The car's audio equipment, for music lovers, is provided by the British manufacturer Bowers & Wilkins.

The engine of this McLaren GT is the 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo which develops 620 Hp and delivers 630 Nm of maximum torque between 3,000 and 7,250 rpm. McLaren announces a 0 to 100 km / h in 3.2 seconds, a 0 to 200 km / h 9 seconds and a maximum speed of 326 km / h.

"The new McLaren GT combines competition levels of performance with continent-crossing capability, wrapped in a beautiful body and true to McLaren's ethos of designing superlight cars with a clear weight advantage over rivals. Designed for distance, it provides the comfort and space expected of a Grand Tourer, but with a level of agility never experienced before in this segment. In short, this is a car that redefines the notion of a Grand Tourer in a way that only a McLaren could." Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive.

The McLaren GT is already available, for a price of 163,000 pounds sterling in the United Kingdom (about 183,000 euros). The first deliveries will not be made until the end of 2019.
