Porsche unveils a one-of-a-kind Panamera with real gold paint

Porsche Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch

Porsche is known for making some of the most desirable sports cars in the world, but the German automaker also offers a high level of customization for its customers. The latest example of this is the Porsche Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch, a one-off car showcasing the Sonderwunsch program's possibilities.

What is the Sonderwunsch program?

Sonderwunsch is German for “special wishes,” and it is a personalization program that allows Porsche customers to create their own unique dream car. The program includes consultation, planning, and expert execution of custom color and material wishes and even the creation of customized one-offs.

The Sonderwunsch program is not new, as Porsche had a similar program in the 1970s, but it has been revived and expanded in recent years. The program is divided into three options: Factory Commissioning, Factory Re-Commissioning and Factory One-Off.

Porsche Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch

  • Factory Commissioning is the option for customers who want to customize their new car before delivery. This option covers a wide range of colors, upholstery, decors and accentuating details that are available ex works.
  • Factory Re-Commissioning is the option for customers who want to customize their existing car after delivery. This option involves shipping the car back to the Porsche factory, where it can be modified with custom colors and materials, as well as technical upgrades.
  • Factory One-Off is the most exclusive and extensive option, where customers can create a completely unique car that is unlike any other. This option requires close collaboration between the customer and the experts from the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur or Porsche Classic departments, depending on whether the car is new or classic.

What makes the Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch special?

The Porsche Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch is a one-off car unveiled during the world premiere of the new Panamera in Shanghai. The car is based on the new Porsche Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, which is the most powerful model in the Panamera lineup, with a combined output of 670 hp from a twin-turbo V8 and an electric motor.

The exterior of the car has been designed by experts from the Style Porsche and Exclusive Manufaktur units, and it features a stunning two-tone paint finish that is centered around a specially created color tone called Leblon Violet Metallic. This violet color tone has a hint of chestnut, and it fades into a solid black in the lower third of the car. The door sills and front and rear spoiler lips are also in solid black.

The car also has tinted headlights, taillights, windows, and bronzed tailpipes. The clear coat of the car contains flakes vaporized with real gold, creating a premium look with a depth effect. The car also features pinstripes in another newly developed color called Avium Metallic, which also adorns the face of the 21-inch center-locking rims and the frames of the side windows. The car has meticulously finished logos on the rear, including a Sonderwunsch logo that indicates its uniqueness.

The interior of the car has been deliberately left unfinished until next year, as Porsche wants to inspire customers to make their own personal dream of a highly individual Panamera a reality. The interior will be customized according to the customer’s preferences, with a wide range of options for colors, materials, decors and features.

How much does the Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch cost?

Porsche has not revealed the price of the Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch, as it is a one-off car that is not for sale. However, it is safe to assume that it is significantly more expensive than the standard Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid, which starts at $101,550 in the US.

Porsche Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch

The price of the Sonderwunsch program depends on the level of customization and the complexity of the work involved. Porsche says that the program is open to all customers who are willing to pay for their special wishes, and that the only limit is the feasibility and legality of the requests.

How does the Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch compare to other similar products?

The Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch is a unique car with no direct competitors, as it is a one-off creation that reflects the customer’s personal taste and vision. However, there are other luxury cars that offer a high level of customization and performance, such as the following:

Car Base Price Powertrain Output 0-60 mph
Porsche Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch N/A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 + electric motor 670 hp / 626 lb-ft 3.0 seconds
Bentley Flying Spur $216,400 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 626 hp / 664 lb-ft 3.7 seconds
Rolls-Royce Ghost $332,500 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 563 hp / 627 lb-ft 4.6 seconds
Mercedes-Benz S-Class $109,800 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 + electric motor 496 hp / 516 lb-ft 4.4 seconds
BMW 7 Series $86,800 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 335 hp / 330 lb-ft 5.3 seconds

As the table shows, the Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch is the most powerful and quickest car among the group, but it is also likely the most expensive. The Bentley Flying Spur and the Rolls-Royce Ghost are more luxurious and prestigious, but they are also heavier and less agile. The Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7 Series are more affordable and more technologically advanced, but they are also less sporty and less exclusive.

Conclusion

The Porsche Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch is a remarkable car that demonstrates the Sonderwunsch program's capabilities, allowing customers to create their own unique dream car. The car features a stunning two-tone paint finish with real gold flakes, a powerful hybrid powertrain, and a customized interior that will be completed next year. The car is a one-off creation not for sale, but it inspires other customers who want to personalize their Porsche with the Sonderwunsch program. The program offers a high level of customization and exclusivity, but it also comes with a high price tag and a long waiting time. The Panamera Turbo Sonderwunsch is a car for those who value individuality and luxury and who are willing to pay for their special wishes.
