The core of the new BMW M5 is the well-known 4.4-liter V8 engine using BMW M TwinPower Turbo technology which offers 600 hp in the standard version and 625 hp in the M5 Competition. The maximum torque of 750 Nm is already available from 1,800 rpm and remains constant up to 5,600 rpm in M5 and up to 5,860 rpm in M5 Competition.
The power is distributed through the 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission, which combines sportiness and precision from a rear-wheel-drive with the maximum grip of four-wheel drive.
The BMW M5 Competition receives the undercarriage and shock absorbers from the BMW M8 Gran Coupe.
The two buttons M1 and M2 are painted in red, located on the left and right on the steering wheel, which allows the storage of two individual configurations for traction, DSC, engine, gearbox, suspension, steering and M view configuration on the head-up display. At the touch of a button, the driver can choose between ROAD and SPORT driving modes.
The BMW M5 Competition also has Track mode, intended for use on circuits that disable all comfort and support functions. The BMW M5 Competition is seven millimeters lower than the BMW M5.
M Sport seats with electric adjustments upholstered in Merino leather are standard, while multi-contour seats with integrated headrests, extended functions and the illuminated M5 logo are optional. M Compound brakes are standard while ceramic brakes are optional. Adaptive LED headlights are standard on the car, and powerful BMW Laserlights are available as an option.
The new BMW M5 offers more comfort, sport and individualization. Production of the new BMW M5 starts this summer and the price starts at $172,217. The combined consumption of both models is 10.6-10.5 l / 100 km and the combined CO2 emissions are 242-239 g / km.
