Luxury American car manufacturer Cadillac has announced that they will unveil the ELR in the New Year, an extended-range electric vehicle.
The car will be based upon the Chevrolet Volt / Vauxhall Ampera which has already been released in the US and the UK respectively. The ELR however, will be a more luxurious offering, and instead of being a four door like the Chevrolet and Vauxhall versions, it will be a more stylish two door coupe.
Looks wise, all we have to go on are a silhouette of the car’s contour lines, and the knowledge that it will be based upon the Converj concept car, which was seen way back in 2009.
The Volt/Ampera has a combination electric drive unit, and a hybrid engine-generator. It manages 0-60 in 8.7 seconds, which is unlikely to impress Cadillac buyers. A similar set up will be found in the ELR, but we may well see the ELR with a slightly more powerful unit, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
Used Cadillacs are extremely cheap to buy following poor sales in Europe, but a range of used cars are available at Exchange and Mart, which offer exceptional value.
