Hyundai released some details about the new Tucson Plug-In Hybrid. The all-new Hyundai Tucson is launched exclusively as a Plug-In Hybrid with four-wheel drive as standard. The plug-in car is expected to arrive on the market in summer 2021.
The all-new Hyundai Tucson Plug-In Hybrid SUV is equipped with a powerful 1.6-litre T-GDi Smartstream turbo petrol engine, combined with a 66.9 kW electric motor using a 13.8 kWh lithium-polymer battery. The total power is 265 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The engine power is controlled by a newly developed six-speed automatic gearbox.
The rechargeable hybrid system in the all-new Tucson ensures maximum fuel efficiency combined with wonderful driving pleasure. The electric motor guarantees very low emissions at low speeds and also contributes to fast acceleration. You can also choose to put the car in EV only mode, which means that the car will run on electricity for about 50 kilometres. The plug-in hybrid car charges thanks to an onboard charger of 7.2 kW.
Thanks to the smart placement of the battery pack under the car's interior, the new Tucson Plug-In Hybrid has very good space on board. Rear seat passengers have as much as 955mm of legroom, while the luggage compartment has 558 litres with the backseats up, and up to 1,737 litres when the backseats are folded down.
The all-new Hyundai Tucson Plug-In Hybrid SUV is equipped with Hyundai's self-developed HTRAC four-wheel-drive system and has a completely new terrain selector. HTRAC distributes the driving force as needed between the front and rear wheels, while the terrain selector optimizes power, torque and braking force.
The all-new Tucson is also equipped with Highway Driving Assist, which both keeps the car in the middle of the lane, ensures the correct distance to other vehicles, and uses navigation data to adjust the speed.
Tucson Plug-In Hybrid will be launched in early 2021 and is presumed to receive very competitive prices.
