In June, the new Mazda CX-60 PHEV will be the new flagship in Mazda's product portfolio in Europe. 2022 CX-60 Plug-in Hybrid SUV represents everything the company has built into its DNA over the past 100 years. Exquisite exterior and interior design, Japanese craftsmanship, the latest innovations in people-centered technology, and a powerful, rechargeable driveline that delivers top-class driving characteristics.
The new Mazda CX-60 PHEV's beautiful and dynamic exterior represents the latest development of Kodo Design, Mazda's design philosophy that gives the car a vibrant look even when stationary.
The design is inspired by the Japanese aesthetic principle of "less is more," with markedly clean lines that clearly show the character of a rear-wheel-drive car. Among the most prominent details are a tall and powerful grill, vertically constructed headlights with LED strips integrated into the grill frame, a PHEV emblem along the side, and a new LED signature for the taillights.
The exterior is combined with a new interior concept to provide a completely new experience for drivers and passengers. Typically Mazda, and with roots in the company's Japanese history, interior designers have designed an elegant high-quality interior that combines traditional craftsmanship with new technology.
In the Takumi top trim, Mazda introduces a Kaichô-inspired interior. Kaichô describes the harmony that comes from combining different materials and textures - Takumi includes maple wood, off-white leather, unique Japanese textiles, chrome details, and Musubu, a Japanese method of tying fabrics together.
In place behind the wheel, information is delivered via two high-resolution 12.3" screens - a configurable instrument screen and a center-mounted infotainment screen - in addition to a large head-up display. The operating system is the intuitive Mazda Connect, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging of smartphones is available.
The Mazda CX-60 Plug-in Hybrid SUV offers many interconnected functions such as remote control of air conditioning and door locks, route planner, and reading of car status via the MyMazda app.
The Mazda Driver Personalization System is a groundbreaking system that uses face recognition technology to recognize up to six different drivers and save their personal settings, so the car's setup will be exactly the way you want it every time you get behind the wheel. The system remembers more than 200 settings, including seats, HUD, side mirrors, audio, and air conditioning. The system also includes a function that finds the ideal sitting position based on the driver's line of sight and height.
The Mazda CX-60 PHEV is the company's first in a series of upcoming rechargeable hybrids. The driveline combines a four-cylinder Skyactiv-G 2.5 petrol engine with a powerful electric motor, a newly developed 8-speed gearbox, and a battery with a capacity of 17.8 kWh.
In total, the system delivers an output of 327 hp (241 kW) and a full 500 Nm of torque, making the CX-60 Mazda's most powerful passenger car ever. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km / h is performed in 5.8 seconds, and the top speed is 200 km / h. In addition, the car can tow a trailer of as much as 2,500 kg.
2022 Mazda CX-60 Plug-in Hybrid SUV comes with i-Activ AWD permanent four-wheel-drive system as standard. The electric motor is placed between the petrol engine and the gearbox. Depending on the selected driving program, all four wheels can be driven by an electric motor, petrol engine, or a combination.
Via the Mi-Drive controller in the center console, the driver can choose between five different driving programs: Normal, Sport, EV, Off-road, and Towing.
Mazda has ambitions to deliver class-leading safety in the CX-60 and aims for five stars in Euro NCAP. Therefore, the car comes with a comprehensive range of i-Activsense safety systems such as auto brake with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control, adaptive LED headlights, high beams, and queuing assistant. Among the news in the security, offer is the next generation 360 ° parking camera with a see-through function and blind-spot monitoring with exit warning.
The new Mazda CX-60 Plug-in Hybrid SUV comes in three versions: Exclusive-Line, Homura, and Takumi. Exclusive-Line is the well-equipped base model with seats in black textile. Homura is the sporty option with several exterior details in black and interior with black leather seats. Finally, Takumi is the top model with extensive chrome details on the outside and with off-white leather in the interior.
All versions can be upgraded with many equipment packages: Comfort, Convenience & Sound, and Driver Assistance. And for the first time, Mazda now offers panoramic roofing as an option. A total of 48 different configurations are available before color selection.
2022 Mazda CX-60 will initially be launched only as a rechargeable hybrid throughout Europe. However, later it will come with two more newly developed engine options: 3.3l straight-six diesel and 3.0l straight-six petrol, both in combination with 48V mild-hybrid.
"With the CX-60 Plug-in Hybrid SUV, we got what we wanted from our first rechargeable hybrid. A sleek family SUV with a large luggage compartment, high trailer weight, good electric range, and an exclusive interior. When we can also offer this model at very competitive prices, it is natural to have ambitions for a relatively high sales volume in Norway," says Karianne Westby.
Prices start at 47,000 euros, and it is open for orders. @via Mazda.
