A few days ago, Ferrari announced the launch of a new sports car. Its name is Ferrari 296 GTB and it has just officially debuted with a plug-in hybrid propulsion system, consisting of a V6 engine and a battery-powered electric motor.

The thermal engine, with two turbines positioned inside the V, has a cylinder capacity of 2,992 cubic centimetres and was developed from scratch.

An electric motor is also part of the hybrid plug-in assembly. Together, the two engines develop a total of 830 horsepower and 740 Nm, enough to reach 100 km / h in 2.9 seconds. The speedometer needle reaches 200 km / h in 7.3 seconds, and the top speed exceeds 330 km / h.

The transmission is an 8-speed automatic with dual-clutch. The battery with a capacity of 7.45 kWh mounted under the floor, promises a fully electric range of 25 km.

When equipped with the Assetto Fiorano package, the new Ferrari 296 GTB sports car weighs 1,470 kilograms. It includes several components made of carbon fibre, a rear window made of Lexan (polycarbonate), a special graphic inspired by the 250 Le Mans model and Michelin Sport Cup 2 R tires. Even though it is 35 kilograms heavier than the F8 Tributo, Ferrari claims that the 296 GTB sports car was 1.5 seconds faster on the Fiorano circuit.

For the design of the new 296 GTB, Ferrari was inspired by previous models, including the LaFerrari or the J50. As for the interior, it is derived from Ferrari SF90 Stradale.
