The Citroën range expands with its first hybrid plug-in, a role that C5 Aircross plays.
After more than a year since it was suggested - as a concept, at the Paris Motor Show - the C5 Aircross Hybrid is presenting itself for the first time to the general public as a model.
The plug-in hybrid version of the C5 Aircross features the PureTech 1.6-liter, 180-horsepower petrol unit, which teams up with a 110-horsepower, 320-Newton-meter electric motor.
The total power of the assembly is 225 horsepower. Resources are sent exclusively to the front axle via an eight-speed automatic transmission ë-EAT8.
The electric motor is powered by a 13.2 kWh battery and offers, in the case of C5 Aircross Hybrid, an electric range of up to 50 kilometers, calculated according to WLTP standards. Li-ion batteries can be charged at sources up to 7.4 kW and require less than two hours to fully charge. In the case of power from the domestic outlet (3.7 kW) the charging process takes 7 hours, says the manufacturer.
Citroën guarantees that the batteries will retain at least 70% of their charging capacity even after 8 years (or 160,000 kilometers) of use.
Citroën has announced that deliveries for the new C5 Aircross Hybrid will start the mid-next year (summer 2020) and that each new release in the manufacturer's range will receive an electrified version.
